01 Crew Member

Crew Trainers play a vital role in our team, guiding newly hired employees through essential training using the three-step process (See it! Try it! Check it!). They ensure quality, service, and cleanliness standards are upheld, utilizing resources like the Crew Training Road and FRED to verify learning, assess skills, and provide coaching and feedback in service or production areas. Once promoted, crew trainers will complete trainer curriculum and are verified in areas they will be training.

02 Manager in Training (MIT)

Manager in Training (MIT) team members take the initial step towards leading shifts by completing the Shift to the Next Level Training Program in three zones: production, inside service, and shift management. MIT completes the Leadership Transitions (LT) curriculum, practices running each zone and demonstrates effective leadership and coaching throughout the shift. MIT obtains their ServSafe certification and must pass internal and external verifications.

03 Shift Leader/Floor Supervisor

Shift Leaders attend Leadership Transitions class and complete all LT curriculum. Once the class is completed, the Shift Leader implements their Action Plan. Shift Leaders maintain proficiency in coaching and consistently leading their teams to meet shift targets through active shift leadership. This includes completing pre-shifts, travel paths, positioning guides, and coaching.

04 Department Leader 1

Department Leader 1 (DL1) oversees a single department, completes the curriculum for their department and attends Developing the Leader in Me Training. They utilize effective leadership to lead their department and are accountable for business results. DL1 establishes routines for the completion of tasks in the department such as training, maintenance, and cleanliness. They communicate results to the team while devising action plans for improvement.

05 Department Leader 2

Department Leader 2 (DL2) oversees two departments and has completed the curriculum for an additional department. As the DL2, they ensure effective leadership, evaluating and being accountable for business results, leading crew training and development for business results, establishing routines for maintenance and cleanliness, and addressing service or production barriers.

06 Department Leader 3

Department Leader 3 excels in leading all three departments and has completed the curriculum for all three departments. As the DL3, they ensure accountability for business results, providing comprehensive crew training and development, establishing proactive department routines for maintenance and cleanliness, and addressing barriers to service or production.

07 Assistant General Leader (AGL)

Assistant General Leaders must complete ‘Leading Great Restaurants’ curriculum, graduate from Hamburger University with a completed Action Plan, and excel in leading all store departments, ensuring accountability for business results. They lead crew and management training and development, maintain schedule flexibility, demonstrate proficiency in coaching, establish store routines, and assist in the development of Department Leaders, working closely with the General Leader to acquire necessary skills for store management.

08 General Leader (GL)

General Leaders must complete ‘Leading Great Restaurants’, graduate from Hamburger University with a completed Action Plan, and excel in leading all store departments, ensuring accountability for business results. They lead training and development efforts, maintain schedule flexibility, demonstrate proficiency in coaching, establish store routines, address performance issues, and collaborate with leaders to achieve store and organizational goals, while also prioritizing hospitality and food safety standards.

09 Mid Manager/Supervisor

Mid-Manager/Supervisors are graduates of Hamburger University and have experienced each of the positions leading up to this position. They have attended Mid-Management Development classes, shown a growth-mindset and excel in coaching, setting goals and reaching business results. They are invested in the development of their teams. Mid-Managers lead with influence which is key to positively impacting the team, community, and the brand. Mid-Manager/Supervisors work directly with the General Leaders to set targets, review business results, and develop business plans for the restaurant.
